Almond Date Rolls, Regular Medjool Dates and Coconut Date Rolls |
I was surprised to learn that Natural Delights also made Date Rolls. The date rolls come in almond, pistachio and coconut. They were very tasty and we were surprised that each variety only had 2 ingredients! They really tasted like there must be more ingredients in them but were happy it was so simple.

Almond was definitely our favourite! These made the perfect post workout snack. Medjool Dates have a low/medium glycemic index which means you aren’t going to get a sugar rush followed by a sugar crash!

Natural Delights Medjool Dates are grown in the Lower Colorado River Valley in the United States. They are grown without pesticides or preservatives and contain no sulphites. In addition they are kosher, gluten-free, sodium-free, fat-free and cholesterol free! They are high in potassium and manganese and are a source of fibre and energy.
Dates are not just for snacking. I love to use dates in baking such as in my Oatmeal Date Muffins and Orange, Date and Walnut Muffins. They are also the perfect sweetener in this Mango Date Green Monster. Dates were wonderful in some Low Fat Oatmeal Date Bars as well. With the Natural Delights Medjool Dates I made these amazing Chocolate Truffle Energy Bites (recipe coming soon!).
I always get Hasan to taste test everything and give me his opinion. At first he was hesitant and asked what it was. I said “Chocolate!” and he was all ready to take a bite. He loved them and Bilal came running for a try as well! These taste best chilled. I rolled them in icing sugar but you could also use cocoa powder, chopped nuts or coconut.
To assist in your baking Natural Delights has some great tips for you:
- 5 to 6 Medjool Dates is approximately 1/2 cup of chopped dates
- Place dates in freezer for an hour to make them easier to chop or slice
- If you will be using them in a food processor, rinse dates under very cold water to make chopping and cleaning up easier (I used this tip in making the above energy bites!)
- If you have dry dates, place them in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes to plump them up

Those rolls look delicious! I've only eaten dates plain, but I've seen them served as rolls at friends homes. I need to just roll my sleeves up and get experimenting with dates 🙂
